The New Boys are in town!
Men’s Category A was subject to a huge surprise this week; Jay Menning (Peak Centre Vancouver) did not finish in first place! SBR coaching from Verona have decided to join us for the remainder of the racing series and what a way to make an entrance! Their racer, Sean Anderson, took first place this week with a 36:39. Sean certainly won’t be making any new friends if he continues to ride that fast in the upcoming stages! Peter Oyen, another rider on ‘Team SBR Coaching’ finished in third place, clocking in at 37:17 edging ahead of Shawn Willis from In Training. In Men’s Cat. B it was also a racer from SBR Coaching, Bill Martin, who took the spotlight with a time of 39:02! Bill finished ahead of John Forsyth (Peak Centre Vancouver), who really enjoyed this week’s stage and equalled his best finishing position of the series. Another newcomer, Marcel Lavoie (Peak Centre Ottawa) finished in third place, only two seconds ahead of team mate Paul Comeau. With the Top 4 all finishing within 7 seconds of each other, this is definitely the closest race we have witnessed so far in the fall series!
In Women’s Cat A, only three riders raced this week, which meant that there was a podium place guaranteed for each of the riders, but who took first place? Well, Calah Wright (Peak Centre Ottawa) gets the bragging rights this week, finishing the Plateaus & Climbs stage in 40:55. Shannon Winslade (Natural High, Okotoks) managed to sneak ahead of Jennifer Buck (Natural High Okotoks) meaning that Shannon is now leading the overall classification for the category! In Women’s Cat B. Rebecca Yi (In Training, San Ramon) continues her fine form with another first place finish! Behind her were Megan Davies (Peak Vancouver) and Vivian Lee (Peak Vancouver) who finished in second and third, respectively. Rebecca Yi is still in the lead in the general classification for this category and is the only rider left to have a 100% winning record, well done!
