Wow! The Fall racing series is already over, but who took the top spot?
After going under the radar for the last few weeks, Jay Menning (Peak Centre Vancouver) made a return to the racing series this week and claimed the overall first spot, despite finishing 5th in this week’s Original Time Trial. As for the rest of Mens Category A, Kit Wellburn (Peak Centre Vancouver) leapfrogged Shawn Willis (In Training San Ramon) into second overall place. The was a great battle this season between Michael Holtz (Peak Centre Vancouver) and Ryan Krauss (Natural High, Okotoks) but it was the man from Vancouver who came on top and finished in 4th overall place. James White (Peak Centre Ottawa) will be one to watch for the upcoming season. He clocked in at 35:23 for this week’s stage, completely obliterating any competition! Well done to Kit Wellburn and Colin Kelly who both managed to improve their best time for the Original Time Trial. In Men’s Cat B, Rick Cordes (In Training, San Ramon) secures first overall place, the position he was at for the majority of the season. Well deserved Rick! Mr. Consistent, John Forsyth (Peak Centre Vancouver), sneaks into second place in the final classification and had a great performance in the Original time trial this week, beating his previous PB for the season. Dan Giberson (Natural High Okotoks) in another who has had a great season, and he will be delighted with a 3rd place overall finish! Tom Ronneng (Peak Centre Vancouver), narrowly misses out on the top 3 but will be more motivated than ever next season to rectify that! Marcel Lavoie (Peak Centre Ottawa) managed an 8th overall finish despite only joining half way through the season, so he will amongst the top riders next year if he performs as he did in the second half of this season.
The top of Women’s Cat A was extremely competitive this season! Jennifer Buck (Natural High, Okotoks) finished only 1 point ahead of team mate (or arch rival??), Shannon Winslade (Natural High Okotoks)! Calah Wright (Peak Centre Ottawa) won this week’s stage and beat her previous PB to finish in overall 3rd! Remember, she only joined in the 5th week of the season…who knows what the classification would look like had she started from the beginning of the season! In Women’s Cat B, Rebecca Yi (In Training, San Ramon), who won 8 of the 12 Stages, finished in first in the overall classification! Despite a slow start to the season, Megan Davies (Peak Centre Vancouver) finished strong , winning the final Stage, beating her PB in the process and taking second place in the overall classification. Lucette Laflamme (Peak Centre Ottawa) who seemed to fade slightly at the end of the season will be delighted to finish in 3rd overall place, well done!
Thanks to all the riders for an awesome Fall season and see you in the new year!
