This week saw the return of the original time trial with an extra 3 points up for grabs if the riders managed to achieve a personal best from their first attempt in week 1. With the race being a double header this week with the race against the clock and fellow athletes, it was sure to be an interesting stage.
In the Men’s category, Mark Sherboneau (Peak Ottawa) achieved a time of 38.08.4 to gain the top spot in the TT this week, with fellow Peak Ottawa athlete Bob Cimon (38.59.5) close behind. Rounding out the top 3 in this week’s stage was Rob McLachlen (Peak Vancouver) with 39.41.6. Although attaining the top podium positions, none of these men actually improved on their original time trial.
In the General classification, Ryan Krauss (Natural High) has still managed to maintain his top position now with a total of 101 points with a clear margin from Mark Sherboneau in second (Peak Ottawa) with 77 and Jeff Orr (Endurance Reno) with 69. The competition is definitely heating up week after week.
In the Women’s race once again Britta Samuels put in a top performance to produce the fastest time this week (44.30.2), with Peak Ottawa athlete Lisa Achsalber (45.00.2), less than 30 seconds behind. Laurie Gorman (Peak Ottawa) took third in the stage with 45.41.7.
In the GC the Endurance Reno athletes are dominating the top positions. With Britta Samuels in first place with a total of 93 points, fellow athlete Andrea Giles has 75 and Kyle Cederwall rounds out the podium with 59 points after this week’s stage.
Excellent racing once again. Congratulations to those athletes who achieved personal bests in the TT.
Good luck for next week’s stage!
