The time before a race is always difficult. You’ve done the training, you’ve read all the articles on what to and not to do in the days leading up to the big event but what advise should you follow?
Tapering for some is a nice break, whilst others dread the idea of reducing their training load but tapering is essential. You should have completed your longest run around 2-3 weeks before and gradually be reducing all your training including strength training, it’s the time to focus on other aspects of your performance. Often overlooked is the mental preparation prior to events so this should not be ignored. The power of positive thinking might give you that last push you need as you cross the finish line!
